CollabDays Belgium 2025
CollabDays Belgium 2025 took place on October 18th 2025 in Edegem, Belgium. This year I had the pleasure to give not one, but two sessions! What a day it was. A lot of positive energy, learnings and networking. Check out the key takeaways from this great event below.
Sessions
At CollabDays Belgium, there were just too many sessions to pick from.
1. From Messy Live Coding to Demo Time Mastery
Together with the creator of Demo Time, I gave a session on how you can elevate your live coding to the next level using Demo Time, a VS Code extension that allows you to script everything in VS Code:
- Execute commands in terminals
- Execute VS Code commands from the command palette
- Make slides in Markdown
- And much more!
Check out our slides and demos here.

2. Become a Maester in Microsoft 365 security
In my second session, I had the pleasure to introduce the audience to Maester, and open-source collection of tests for you Microsoft 365 tenant security settings, and a very nice reporting framework that produces interactive HTML reports on those tests. Within minutes you can get actionable insights on how you can improve your tenant security.
Using EngageTime I asked the audience if they had already heard about Maester, half of the audience had never heard of it before! At the end of the session, it seems I convinced a lot of people to give it a try.

Poll: Have you heard about Maester?

Poll: Will you use Maester?

3. Entra ID Management Made Easy
Julian explained how you can use the new lifecycle workflows to automate user provisioning and deprovisioning in Entra ID. We also touched upon access reviews, access packages and many more of the Identity Government features in Entra ID.
4. Microsoft Sentinel for Developers
Thomas and Laura, had a great session on how developers should send some important logs to Microsoft Sentinel with minimal effort. What kind of events should be logged, how should they be formatted, what other data should be attached and how do you put this in a custom table where you can use KQL to do custom alerting. Demo code available here
5. Secure external collaboration in Microsoft Teams
Bram gave a great session on how you should configure your External collaboration settings in Microsoft Teams. And what other knobs you can turn to make working with external users more secure. It is always a balancing act between security and productivity, but with these new insights we can make better decisions on how to configure our tenants.
This session was still very engaging even though it was the last one of the day.
Networking and fun
CollabDays Belgium is not just about sessions, it’s also about networking and having fun. During the breaks and lunch, I had the opportunity to connect with fellow Microsoft 365 enthusiasts, share experiences, and discuss the latest trends in the industry.
