Exploring Cloud Tech Tallinn: Day 2 Maester

On January 30th 2026, Cloud Tech Tallinn had its second conference day, and I had my second talk of the conference.

Become a Maester in Microsoft 365 security

Back in 2025 I had the idea to give a talk about Maester as Experts Live Netherlands together with my friend and fellow MVP Fabian Bader. The first time we gave this talk we had some feedback on how we could improve it, and I wanted to give this talk again with Fabian in the improved version. When I saw the call for speakers for Cloud Tech Tallinn I thought this would be a great opportunity to give this talk again, and I was thrilled when I got accepted to speak at this amazing conference.

“Become a Maester in Microsoft 365 security” is a talk that introduces Maester, to help you scan you Microsoft 365 tenant for common security (mis)configurations. The actionable report that Maester generates gives you some insights on how you can improve the security of your tenant. Or if you already did a lot what others haven’t it will just show a nice report with mostly green checks.

We had a big room and it was packed with attendees.

Interaction

We did not really divide the contant between the two of us, just go with the flow was the plan. Fabian and I have a good chemistry according to some of the feedback we got. We showed a lot of demos and if you want you can see the slides here.

Conclusion

Everybody with a Microsoft 365 tenant should at least once run Maester, which is super easy, and if you have a conference coming up and you want to have a great introduction to Maester, contact me on LinkedIn and we can work something out.
